We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead our medical wire & cable manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cable production processes, ISO 13485 compliance, team leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for driving production efficiency, quality excellence, and successful new product introductions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Production Operations Management
- Plan and manage monthly and weekly production schedules based on customer demand.
- Oversee cable manufacturing processes, including bunching, stranding, extrusion, cabling, braiding, spiral, jacket extrusion, and testing.
- Monitor production performance and improve efficiency, OEE, and on-time delivery.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Warehouse, and Planning teams to ensure smooth operations.
2. Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure production activities comply with ISO 13485 requirements
- Manage production issues, non-conformances, CAPA activities, and customer audits.
- Drive continuous quality and process improvements.
3. Team Leadership
- Lead and manage supervisors, technicians, and operators.
- Develop SOPs, training programs, and employee development plans.
- Implement KPI-based performance management and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
4. Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and reduce material waste and scrap.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, TPM, and Kaizen.
- Improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance First Pass Yield (FPY).
5. New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Support new product pilot runs and ensure successful production launch.
- Work closely with Engineering and R&D on manufacturability improvements.
- Ensure all validation requirements are completed before mass production.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or a related field.
- Preferred disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, or Polymer Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years in a management role.
- Hands-on experience in medical wire & cable manufacturing is required.
- Experience in cable assembly is an advantage.
Quality Systems
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards.
- Experience supporting or leading ISO audits.
- Experience with medical device customer audits is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of cable manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Familiar with medical-grade materials such as PVC, PU, Silicone, PTFE, FEP, and PFA.
- Knowledge of cable testing methods and root cause analysis tools (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone).
Leadership & Management
- Experience managing teams of 50 or more employees.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Experience in setting up new production lines or factories is an advantage.
Language
- Fluent in Chinese and English, both spoken and written.
Preferred
- Experience in multinational wire & cable companies.
- Familiarity with ERP systems.
- Experience managing multicultural teams.
